The outbreak of a pandemic in 2019 has really left an impact on our lives, forever.

Staying home and practicing social distancing were implemented to help reduce the outbreak of the pandemic.

Many organizations and schools were closed down to reduce the effects and the spread of the pandemic.

More people had to work from home.

These unique situations have made us stay indoors for long hours and lead us to feel socially awkward and also it has taken a huge toll on our mental health.

Human beings are social beings who need to stay socially connected.

According to research, staying socially connected with meaningful and social activities enhances mental health and also enables us to battle any health issues.

Seeking ways to promote how to stay connected, and how to promote our productivity and mental health should be one of our priorities, so here’s what we learned from one of the hardest years of our century.

How to Stay Connected During Hard Global Conditions

1. Schedule a Group chat

Scheduling a group video to chat with your family member or friend is one of the ways to stay connected.

Google Hangouts and other platforms offer the opportunity.

Organizing a watch party where you can all watch the same movie or show at the same time, a book club where you can discuss a book, podcast, or blog, participating in FaceTime quizzes, participating together by watching workouts online, and more.

2. Participate in Online Group Activities

Mental health can be enhanced by attending group activities like doing online exercises in an apartment with a courtyard, singing with neighbors via FaceTime, and strictly following the quarantine protocols like wearing your mask, regular washing of hands with soap, and keeping a social distance whenever you’re participating outside your home.

3. Call someone

When there are global extremes, call someone and check on them.

Call family members – cousins, nephews, nieces, grandparents, and past associates.

A simple call can make someone’s day great.

4. Exercise

Mental health can be enhanced by participating in regular exercises with family members or friends at a safe distance.

According to health officials, they encouraged regular exercise and participants should stay at a safe distance of at least 6 feet.

Also, it helps to reduce chronic heart diseases and heart failure.

You can call a friend or neighbor to “accompany” you for a walk and chat daily.

If you have a dog, you can spend more time visiting the dog park.

You can chat with another dog owner from a distance or those you pass in the park.

5. Check On Your Neighbors

You can give support by checking on your neighbors who live alone.

You can check on them by keeping a distance and having regular conversations with them daily or three times a week and ensure that they are doing great.

Ask them questions if you can assist them in picking up healthy snacks or fruits at the grocery store or ask them of any other support that you can render.

Conclusion

During and after the COVID pandemic, life has really changed for all of us.

However, it doesn’t mean that we had to become socially disconnected completely if something similar happens in the future.

We now know that there are simple ways that can help you to stay connected with people around, while still maintaining a safe distance.
