Going to a salon to get a spa treatment for your feet can be time-consuming, expensive, and require more energy than you’re willing to spend. And in the face of this pandemic, it’s better to skip this luxury treatment altogether.

The good news is that it is relatively easy to give yourself a spa-like foot treatment at home! An added bonus? You can play the music you want or watch a movie while you do it to ensure that you are completely relaxed and giving yourself the most relaxing and enjoyable quality time possible.

So, settle in – we are here to give you tips on how to have the most tranquil and pleasant foot spa at home. No need to wait around, watch bad tv, or make conversation when you just want to focus on you. Read on to learn how to give yourself a top-notch foot spa in your own home.

How To Have a Foot SPA At Home

1. Soak

You can certainly use a tub or large bowl, but if you want a luxurious and consistently warm foot spa, then you will want to invest in a foot spa bath massager. They cost less than your average pedicure treatment and come with massage rollers, temperature control, and bubbles to help your muscles relax. To make it extra special, add your favorite bubble bath or a few drops of essential oil – lavender is good for relaxation. You can also use foot bath salts, there are so many available at your favorite beauty store. Soak your feet for about ten minutes and then gently pat dry with a towel.

2. Nails and Cuticles

After soaking your feet, your skin, nails, and cuticles are going to be incredibly soft and prepped for a bit of trimming and cleanup. Start by trimming and cleaning your toenails, they are easiest to cut after they have been soaking for a bit. Then push back your cuticles towards your nail beds. This ensures that your nails look well-kept and clean. Avoid cutting your cuticles as this can leave you more vulnerable to infection. Finally, shape and buffer your nails with a filer or four-way block for an extra smooth and polished look.

3. Exfoliate

Grab your favorite scrub – there are so many kinds! Try to stay away from artificial scrubbing agents, or scrubs made with harsh materials as they can damage your skin. Pick your favorite scent and begin scrubbing your tootsies. For tougher areas, a pumice stone or foot scrubber can be used to smooth your calluses and roughened skin. Start slowly, these products can cause small tears in the skin if used too vigorously. If you want, making a homemade foot scrub is easy and only requires some sugar, half a cup of coconut oil, and few drops of your favorite oil. Exfoliate the skin for about 10-15 minutes.

4. Foot Mask

After you have exfoliated your skin, wipe away any remaining and excess scrub – the next step of your foot spa to pamper those toes. There are many foot masks available at pharmacies and beauty shops, or you can make your own at home. You can make a mask yourself with only two ingredients – honey and fresh lemon juice. Whether you are using a store-bought or homemade mask, coat your feet with the mask and allow it to stay on for 15 minutes. Once the time is up, wash off with lukewarm water.

5. Moisturize

After making sure that you have cleaned off any remainder of your foot mask, it is time for the moisturizer. You have many options when it comes to moisturizing your feet. You can use a body lotion, body butter, or a lotion specifically created for feet. Apply the moisturizer as you massage your feet. This helps the moisturizer to penetrate the skin and skin in the hydration to keep your feet as soft as possible. If you’d like, you can go to sleep with a pair of socks on to seal the moisture overnight and wake up with baby soft skin in the morning.

6. Nail Polish

Saving the best (and most fun) for last. After you have soaked, exfoliated, pampered, moisturized, and trimmed your toes it is time for the color. Pick out your favorite nail color, one that makes you feel happy and pretty whenever you see it – we swear it is a mood booster. If you want a longer-lasting pedicure, start with a base coat, then two coats of color, and finish it off with a topcoat. Make sure you are allowing enough time between coats for them to dry a bit. Once dry, wiggle your toes, because you are looking pampered and gorgeous, girl!
